Breeder’s Rights at Vinzs Smart Kitten's Place

At Vinzs Smart Kitten’s Place, we take pride in our breeding program and are committed to maintaining the highest standards of animal welfare, ethical practices, and transparency. When you adopt a kitten from us, it’s important to understand the breeder’s rights that apply throughout the process.

1. Ownership and Responsibility for the Kitten

As the breeder, we maintain ownership of the kitten until it is officially adopted and the final payment is received. The kitten remains under our care and responsibility until it has been paid for in full, at which point ownership is transferred to you, the adopter.

  • Health and Care: We are responsible for ensuring that the kitten is healthy, vaccinated, and cared for according to industry standards until it is ready for adoption.
  • Health Guarantee: As part of the breeder’s rights, we offer a health guarantee for all kittens. This ensures that the kitten is free of genetic disorders, health issues, and contagious diseases at the time of adoption. If any health issues arise within a set time frame (e.g., 30 days), we may offer a replacement or reimbursement, depending on the situation.

2. Ethical Breeding Practices

As breeders, we are committed to responsible breeding practices that prioritize the health and well-being of our kittens. We reserve the right to make decisions based on the health and welfare of the animals, including:

  • Selective Breeding: We choose breeding pairs based on health, temperament, and lineage. If at any point we determine that a kitten or adult cat is not fit for breeding or adoption, we reserve the right to make the appropriate decisions for the well-being of the animal, which may include delaying or canceling an adoption.
  • Non-Sterilization: We reserve the right to sterilize (spay or neuter) any kitten before adoption if necessary for its health, or if the kitten is intended for pet-only adoption, and not for future breeding.
  • No Breeding Rights: Kittens sold from our facility are not sold with breeding rights unless otherwise stated. If you purchase a kitten with the intention to breed, it must be done under our terms and conditions, and we must agree to it.

3. Kitten Reservation and Priority

  • Priority Reservation: As part of the breeder’s rights, we maintain the right to determine the priority of reservation based on the order of deposits and the suitability of the adopter for the kitten.
  • Deposit and Non-Refundable Nature: The $500 fixed deposit that secures your reservation is non-refundable. If you change your mind or do not follow through with the adoption, the deposit will not be returned. This protects us from losses due to the time and resources invested in the breeding process.
  • Right to Cancel: We reserve the right to cancel the adoption agreement if the kitten does not meet the health and safety standards or if any ethical concerns arise during the breeding or adoption process.

4. Health and Welfare Responsibilities

  • Veterinary Care: We are responsible for ensuring that the kittens are fully vaccinated, dewormed, and checked by a veterinarian before being placed with their new families. We provide a detailed health report that includes vaccination records, deworming schedules, and any other necessary medical information.
  • Post-Adoption Support: While the kitten is in your care, we maintain a support role for the first few months. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the kitten’s health, behavior, or care, you can reach out to us for guidance. However, we are not responsible for any health issues that may arise after the kitten leaves our care, unless they were pre-existing conditions covered by the health guarantee.

5. Kitten Ownership Transfer

  • Ownership Transfer: The transfer of ownership occurs once the full payment has been made for the kitten. Until that time, the breeder retains the rights to the kitten. The process involves:
    • Full payment of the kitten’s price.
    • Signing of the adoption contract, which outlines both the breeder’s and adopter’s responsibilities.
    • Transfer of ownership occurs only when all financial obligations are met and agreed-upon terms are followed.

6. Breeder’s Right to Refuse Sale

  • Refusal of Sale: We reserve the right to refuse the sale or reservation of any kitten to an adopter if we believe that the adopter will not provide a safe and loving environment for the kitten. This may include situations where:
    • The adopter has failed a home visit or background check.
    • The adopter has provided misleading information.
    • We believe that the adopter’s home environment is unsuitable for a kitten.

7. Right to Monitor Kitten’s Welfare

As part of our commitment to the welfare of the kittens, we may periodically check in with the adopter to ensure that the kitten is adjusting well and receiving proper care. This is done with respect and understanding, and we aim to provide ongoing support to ensure the kitten’s well-being in its new home.

8. Breeding and Sale Restrictions

Kittens adopted from Vinzs Smart Kitten’s Place are intended to be loving companions, and not for commercial breeding purposes unless explicitly agreed upon in writing with the breeder.

  • Non-Breeding Clause: If a kitten is sold as a pet only, the adopter agrees not to use the kitten for breeding purposes. This is to ensure the health of the kitten and to avoid overpopulation or irresponsible breeding practices.
  • Sale to Pet Shops or Third Parties: We do not allow our kittens to be resold to pet shops or third-party sellers. The adopter must agree that the kitten will be kept in their care and that they will not attempt to sell the kitten or give it away to others.

9. Breeder’s Right to Reclaim the Kitten

In rare cases, if the breeder determines that the adopted kitten is not being properly cared for or is being mistreated, we reserve the right to reclaim the kitten. This would be done in the best interest of the kitten’s health and welfare, and only after discussing the matter with the adopter.
